5 SELF-CARE TIPS FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Hi guys!
So… I don’t know about you, but I can be one of the FIRST people to forget to take care of themselves and put myself first. But it’s crucial! I was feeling a bit stressed this past week going a thousand miles an hour without taking a proper breath (you know the days), and I had to remind myself to slow down and smell the roses, well since we’re in winter now, smell the fresh cold air…:)
I started thinking of some little things I could do for myself this holiday season to put a smile on my face more often!
1) buy a holiday-themed coffee creamer
I know it sounds too simple, but if you’re anything like me, I treasure my morning coffee. That stuff is gold. And I also love the holidays! So I thought why not spice it up in the morning and combine the two?! That way you wake up reminded of the Christmas tree and family time just around the corner.
I just bought myself this non-dairy and plant-based Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer off of Amazon because I still can’t let go of fall.
2) watch a cheesy christmas movie on netflix
Yes, just do it. You’ll thank me later. Or maybe you won’t, but at least you tried to get in the holiday spirit! Most of them are a bit cringe-y, it’s kind of hard not to be when you’re making a holiday rom-com, but we need hope people! And who says you’re not going to bump into a prince at a baking competition in a small country in Europe, fall in love, and go off to live your best life? I certainly won’t be the person to say that will never happen.
Get in the spirit, make some hot cocoa, and netflix and chill with your Hallmark imagination. Might I recommend “Christmas in the Smokies” or “The Princess Switch”? Both full of all the cheese in the best ways possible.
3) bake a pie
Now that might be easy for me to say, because I love baking. Pies, cookies, cakes, lemon bars, you name it! But you can too! And I’m sure that many of us can at least say we’ve done more of it now thanks to quarantine.
Some recipes are really so simple, but delicious. Check out one of my favorites here. Paula Deen’s Pumpkin Pie. You literally buy a pie crust, throw some things in the blender, pour it out, and throw it in the oven for a few minutes. You won’t be able to resist.
4) get yourself a holiday present
Even if it is small, you don’t need to spend a lot, just treat yourself. Whether it’s thanks to that great Black Friday/Holiday deal, or it’s something you’ve been saving up for, but are afraid to take the plunge…DO IT. You won’t regret it.
I found some great clothing sales, revived my favorite skincare products, got that holiday-themed coffee creamer, and I’m a happy camper. Whatever floats your boat. Maybe it’s making something, writing in a journal, meditating, regardless do something for no one else but you.

5) make a vision board for the new year
Ok, yes it’s a bit early perhaps to be thinking of the ever-looming New Year Resolutions. But! One of my best friends gave me this idea. This doesn’t have to start at the new year. I’m someone who always gets the itch to change things up juuuuust before the holidays officially hit. So this is the perfect time.
Collect some of your favorite magazines, make a stack, and start snipping! I think there really is something to say about waking up every day and constantly being reminded of what you’re striving for. Make a board that makes you happy and reminds you of where you want to go. The best version of you that you daydream about, maybe too often, I know I do.
This is just me. Leave a comment below and let me know how you like to care for yourself in the holiday season! We can always use more of that. ;)
xo,
Ari
